Myron Ho

I studied mechanical engineering and received my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in December 2020 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona). My area of interest is in the Design of Mechatronic and Robotic Systems, which means I am interested in the design of both mechanical and electrical aspects of a project. I have had 2 summer engineering internships and worked as an engineering tutor for approximately 2 years. I have also worked at a Naval Surface Warfare Center in Corona for 9 months.

The big motivation for me to do what I do is the passion of creation. I love to make things, whether it be films, food, or robots. My goal for the future is to get into the field of mechatronics and robotics. Nowadays, you cannot separate the mechanical elements from electrical elements of a project. So instead of working on things that are purely mechanical, if I really want to be a true creator, then I must embrace the two.

Why Engineering?

I've always wanted to create, build, and make something. Initially, I was an architecture student for my freshman year of college. My understanding of the definition of architecture was limited; I assumed it was a discipline where we were in charge of designing structures and impressive buildings. This was true to some degree. However, it focused entirely on the design aspect and abstract spaces without any emphasis on the math and the feasibility of the structure. At this point, I knew I wanted to switch to engineering. I was initially planning to switch to civil engineering because it wasn't too far of a deviation from architecture. I eventually learned about how versatile and broad the field of mechanical engineering was and made my decision to switch into mechanical engineering.
